ComeGiftIt - Holiday Gifting Without the Chaos

ComeGiftIt was born out of pure holiday frustration.

Every year, the same chaos: getting everyone's wish lists in the group chat, calling each relative to ask what item they're getting someone, and despite all that effort, you STILL end up with 3 people buying the same gift. And if your present is the last copy to be opened? You look like a copycat. Awkward.

This app gets rid of all that nonsense while keeping the fun of gift-giving. No more duplicate gifts, no more endless calls, no more group chat chaos.

🔒 Privacy: No accounts needed and no email required to use the app. Your group data is stored for 2 years, then automatically deleted. If you write to us through the contact form, we store the name, email address and message you send there, and delete those after 12 months.

How does it work?

Create a group, share the link with your family and friends, and everyone adds their wishlist. When someone claims a gift, everyone else can see it's taken — the recipient can't. No more duplicate gifts!

Do I need to create an account?

Nope! Just share the link and everyone can join with their name. No passwords, no email verification, no hassle.

Can the gift recipient see who claimed their items?

ComeGiftIt never shows you who claimed your own gifts — your list looks exactly the same to you whether or not anything's been claimed. Everyone else in the group can see what's already taken, so nobody doubles up. Once your event date has passed, "Who Do I Thank?" tells you who bought what, so the thank you notes go to the right people.

How long does my group data last?

Groups are stored for 2 years. That way, if you didn't get something last year, you can check your old wishlist!

What if two people try to claim the same gift?

Only one person can claim a gift. If someone beats you to it, ComeGiftIt tells you straight away instead of letting you both buy it. Everyone else's changes show up within about ten seconds. Want to go in on something together? Ask whoever claimed it to split — they get your request and can say yes or no.

Can I use this on my phone and my computer?

Yes. Open the link on your other device and enter the same name — ComeGiftIt will ask whether it's you or someone else with the same name. Pick "that's me" and both devices work on the same list.

Two of us have the same name. What happens?

When you enter a name that's already in the group, ComeGiftIt shows you how many items that person has and asks whether it's you on another device or a different person. Choose "different person" and you'll get your own separate list.

I reset the group by accident!

A reset can be undone for 30 days. Open the group and whoever created it will see an option to restore everything. After 30 days it's permanent.

Is this free?

What about security?

Concretely: traffic is served over HTTPS, requests are rate limited, input is validated and length limited, everything you type is escaped before it's displayed, and there are no accounts or passwords to steal. Groups are deleted automatically after two years. Anyone who has your group's link can open the group, so only share it with the people you want in it.

The short version: we keep as little as possible, we never ask who you are, and nothing here is sold or shared.

What we store

The group name, the occasion and date you pick, the names people type when they join, and the wishlist items and details everyone adds — sizes, colours, links, that sort of thing. That is the whole list. If you would not want it on a fridge door, don't put it in a wishlist.

No accounts, ever

There is nothing to sign up for. No password, no email address, no phone number, no "continue with" button. You type a first name so the rest of the group knows whose list is whose, and that is the only thing we ever ask you for.

Anyone with the link can open the group

The link is the key. That is what makes it easy — nobody has to make an account to join — but it also means anyone you send it to can open the group and see the wishlists inside. Share it with the people you actually want in the group, and treat it the way you would treat the group chat itself.

How long we keep it

Groups are kept for two years, then deleted automatically — so last year's list is still there when you want to look something up, and it does not sit around forever. If you write to us through the contact form, we store the name, email address and message you send, and delete those after twelve months.

Deleting something sooner

Ask us. Use the contact form, tell us which group you mean, and we will remove it.
